Ball Bearings

Buried deep inside the wheel of any car are dozens of perfectly round and flawlessly smooth steel orbs that slip and spin against each other on the inside the wheel hub. The simple perfection of this design is crucial to the safe and quiet function of the wheel. One piece of dirt, one knick in the metal will create friction inside the hub. The heat buildup from the undesired friction literally burns the finish of the bearings, warning the driver with a low growling. If left unattended the bearings will start to disintegrate and the noise will grow to a howl that  can’t be ignored. The color and finish of the bearings is directly related to how long the  problem went untreated.
